In the summer of 2006 we lost a dear friend. His parents, Vern and Gina, have been close friends for decades. Vern has been a brick mason forever and both his sons followed in his footsteps. After the funeral Gina handed me the trowel that her son used for work and asked me to build something so that she could display it. I have been a woodworker since I was a child, but this was a request that would result in my most rewarding work to date.

Beautiful Just beautiful!
Thank you Lisa, and don't give up on that next adoption.
Thanks Donald! I can't give up a little boy depends on me to get him out of the orphanage.
Your piece reminds me that we can change the world 1 brick at a time. For me 1 child at a time etc... Thanks for the reminder!!!
1 brick at a time/1 child at a time...that's good...that's real good. Every single act of kindness, every single good deed, etc. brings the world that much closer to being the way God wants it to be.
I had never noticed that you had a Blog Donald. Keeping you in my prayers. That woodwork is very nice. Theirs such a beautiful tribute Christ makes with his carpentry skills in The Shack book that I'm always talking about. This reminded me of that.
It's going to be a wild 24 - 36 hours were heading into. I'm looking forward to God getting on with us already..
How about that service yesterday?! I know people who can be there are experiencing His presence, and I don't know about you, something about "Lordy, Lordy!" ;), but I myself had some church right here in my chair up in this little swing-state last night!
God Bless Ya Bro'
Thanks SOZ. I really do appreciate the prayers. I can tell a difference because of them.
Yeah, you're right, tomorrow promises to be exciting and quite possibly history-making.
Yesterday's service!? Yeah buddy! Streaming is always good, and yesterday was better than most, but there is nothing like being there ITB.
Talk to you later.
Hello Donald and Her Majesty,
I was scrolling through followers of Blog in the Now and noticed your blog, Donald.
Your tribute to Larry reminds me of the love that my two sons have for each other...and then how much God must long for his sons and daughters to love each other. I agree...one brick at a time, we'll get there.
Did you actually use real mortar? There is something very cool and though-provoking about your mixture of wood and mortar...Love Always Wins!...no matter how different two things are, Love can bring them together.
Hi Avatar, good to hear from you!
Thanks for the comment. I actually used two different types of wood to build the structure.
The wood used to build the bricks is African Paduak (pa'-duke) and the wood used to build the mortar joints is mahogany.
I didn't stain either of them, I only clearcoated them so that their natural colors would show.
DONALD,
That is one beautiful treasure !
Peace,
Northern Light
Thanks NL.
